Hi There,
Sorry to interfere with your board, but I'm trying to organise friendly matches for Harvel CCs Sunday 1st XI team.
I've emailed info@plaxtolcc.co.uk a few times without any success.
I've been asked by our committee to contact more 'local' teams to try to arrange fixtures.
If your fixture secretary could check the above email address or alturnatively email me on dickymac@yahoo.com (appologies for address!) i'd be most grateful.
All the best for next season.

Dear All,
At the recent committee meeting, we discussed the possibility of the club entering the National Village Cup competition.
It takes place on sundays through the season, working up through county and regional to national fixtures, with the final held at Lord's.
My understanding is that Bidborough enter, and usually make it a way into the regionals. I see no reason why a strong Plaxtol XI couldn't go a long way, providing some really interesting and tough fixtures, and potentially great kudos and publicity for the club.
The issues are of course that you only know your next fixture when you win the latest one, and if you go a fair way, there may be some travel involved!
It also requires some prior commitment to 2 games of a weekend. Some re-jigging of sunday games may thus be needed to accommodate, but I'd like to canvass opinion from all, and especially 1st and 2nd XI regulars, as to their interest levels, prior to our applying for entry.
Please let me know your thoughts,
Kind regards,
Tillo
Will ritchie:
Sounds like a brilliant idea Tillo, everything I've heard/read about this competition is always positive and it looks like a good laugh combined with some good quality cricket. Is the idea to run these games alongside the regular Supers fixtures? If so the supers already struggle for availability most weeks - we may suffer in the cup if there are clashes.
Overall though I personally would be well up for it.
|
TC:
I may be completely wrong about this but my former flatmate's boyfriend plays for Bidborough first XI and played in last year's competition. The gist of what he said to me is that you need to have your best XI out each time to stand a chance of competing. The level isn't necessarily as high as you'd think (not until the latter stages at least) but most clubs have one or two very handy players who'd be a notch above our league.
That leaves you in a tough situation of course as you don't know when the games are and therefore you can't plan any availability in advance.
If a full strength Bidborough can go well there's no reason a full strength Plaxtol can't. But that's a big if I guess.
Good luck.
TC

Plaxtol made a forgettable start to the Indoor league coming up 20 runs short against 5 man Vine. Bowling first, we got off to a swift start, Slates bowling their opener first ball. The first six overs went with 3 wickets falling at around 7 an over. Thereafter, we seemed to lose our way. Vine ended up 102 all out.
Platol lost BT in the first over and after some good impetus from Slater and Cox came an awful mix up with both at the non strikers end. That was the first of 4 run outs. A game that was very much there for the taking passed us by and so as my school report mentioned often, could do better !!

Hi all
A memorial rugby match is being held for former Plaxtol Super Sunday player John Vanns at Tonbridge School on 15 October (2.15 kick off). This promises to be a very special day with plenty of Larkins available, a crowd well in excess of 200 and hopefully a good game of rugby. PCC’s very own Mark Francis will be providing some ballast up front for the JV All Stars and we are in contract negotiations to sign James Munton.
Luke Sanders will also be supporting the team by ensuring all the players are well hydrated throughout the day.
Hope to see as big a PCC contingent as possible.
Tillo:
Any plaxtolians going? Don't have a direct link to the event in person, but keen to take Freddie to his first rugby match.

There seems to be a little confusion about the last game of the season this weekend. FYI it is against Shipbourne away with a 1pm start on SATURDAY (NOT Speldhurst on Sunday). Please indicate below if you would like to play. Yogi is co-ordinating.

Huge thanks to Ray Grayland and the stalwarts who turned out this morning to help sort out the square for next year - Frankie, Bernie, Yogi, Mike and Lord Minto of Nizels. Job well done.
Also, far more importantly, massive congratulations to Tillo and Steph on the arrival of Frederick James early this Sunday morning weighing in at 8 - 11. Well done skip, and especially well done to Steph. Brilliant news. Skips excuse for not helping us with the scarifying is accepted!!! Frederick's PCC shirt is already on order!
Tillo (proud as punch):
Thank you BT for a lovely note, and to all for their kind messages through the day. Freddie and Steph have done really well today, and are now settling in at Pembury hospital tonight, but fingers crossed home tomorrow.
He's a big bugger all right, and no-one guessed quite how big on the club sweepstake that Steph ran end-of-season. Closest though was Jan Perry, with 8-10, so we'll get Jan her winnings as soon as able (promise not to spend them on baby-clothes!).
